Escape down Grayscale rainbows At the end I find What we left behind If unicorns were real I could tell you How I feel Ooh my friend Then you woke up What the thunder Needs If unicorns were real I could tell you How I feel Wonder under the mane The rainbow horn Sketching it out I feel it Rushing outlined It's presence Defined It's exciting It's inviting I wanna tell you All about it If unicorns were real I could tell you How I feel I wanna be alone The storm stops A lot is lost I just need another cause Say I've been coming down The whole time Dust in my eyes Pass along by

Suck Seed 03:48
When you first met me I was playing Short stop for the Lord And I'm not gonna undress you I'm not gonna go overboard I've learned from my mistakes I lifted up the veil I'm living under a rock now And I succeed I don't fail I suck Seed I suck I succeed Like a bird like a urn Like a no one Like a thing you Wouldn't be Like a place that is Being burned down Inside of me I'm not the guy I'm not girl I'm not the winner At the end I'm in the middle I'm underground I'm not your Best friend I suck Seed At being A guy in need I'm not the guy Not the guy... Don't choose me Or abuse me Aye Just a thing You put on top of another Thing Hiding behind the sky I fall down I cry, I ask why I suck Seed At being A thing with things in Harm's way All the day I heard you say I got my mouth in front of me And my hands Well my hands are behind me Cuz I succeed At not being the Thing you need

V1: Listen to the earth and air Open to time Sittin in the window chair I don't mind It's undefined I was goin with the flow Now I don't know Yeah I don't know CHORUS: I'm on the inside I'm only half right I'm on the inside Again Waiting for the light to dim A new ideal Tomorrow is a phantom limb I can feel But it's not real Thinking I was someone else A pseudonym For what's within See it sitting on the shelf The deadly sin Pick it up again CHORUS CHORUS Looking in the only place It would never be Always thinking of your face Under a canopy Of banana trees Goin there and back again A new ideal Gonna break the seal Tomorrow is a phantom limb I can feel But it's not real CHORUS V1 CHORUS

Art Party 03:53
Sad days and Thursdays Are my days off I don't think I love you More than I piss you off Like this it goes Baby in the end We will know But before then you just gotta Sit down and watch the show Hey hey hey you gotta sit down Sometimes and watch the show I said now I wo-wowow-won't go When I'm feeling weird And I know I just need to sit And talk to your plants again Well, you don't know You don't learn that dance, hun We could, we shake And we could, we could rake But nobody wants to Eat that salad Sometimes you gotta Unwind but no no no Because you gotta rewind And it's time to unreel Reality and I don't think I can do it myself Would you do it with me? Would you do it with me? 'Cause oh, sometimes you gotta Sit and watch the show I said oh Things get mixed up, you know? I said sometimes you gotta Sit down and watch the show Sometimes you think you know But you don't It goes like this, yeah Sit down Sit down with me Put on your nightgown And frown with me We can call it an Art Party We can invite the neighbors And your friends I don't think I want to make a Facebook event But I think everyone will come again Yeah yeah yeah We call it the show You know yeah yeah yeah We call it the show Sometimes that's All you know

Creases of language The body can write I read it before you said it You wrote it last night Oooh it's leaded That's why it rings Before we were wedding We used to swing on swings My eyes are foretelling I tell you why Oh oh oh That's the way we try Creases told me Before you said it was true Oh you know the body can write That's what the body can do When you woke up today Did you promise To stay that way? Oh I read it Last night When you're asleep Your body wriggles and writhes I say ah ah ah Of all the things you say Why did you say them Anyway? You say 'em anyway Yeah yeah hey hey hey Yeah yeah yeah hey hey hey When you woke up today Did you think that you Would always be That way? Ah hey! Oh when you woke up today Oh what did you think You would say? Oh Wanna be all right Would it be just ok Oh when you woke up Today Day hey hey

Don't Eat Me 03:41
You gotta choose You can't lose It's not a cruise It's a destination Two paths diverged in the wood And would you choose The left or the right Well I mean I ran into the wilderness Talking with the animals I said "hey" and "thank you" Please don't eat me Not for me and not for fun And not just to prove you're some kind of freak Please don't eat me I asked you Would you please Don't eat me The other side of the week Inside the month It's kinda like a leap year Strung together All those leap days They got nothing on me They got nothing But a grasshopper leg to eat And I asked them once again I said, I said Here's how I say it, I said Please Ah, don't eat me Don't eat me I don't tase very good And I don't feel much better It would be a drag If I had to put myself in a body bag With the parts that you didn't eat Please would you be kind to me Please would you be kind Kinder When you remind her Please

There's just a little moonlight Left in the glass All night I've been thinking of your... Your mind And your face Baby, let's go back to your place Ooh I spent all day Down at the track Sometimes I don't know why These guys keep coming back Can't you motherfuckers See your houred race? Oh baby Let's go back to your place Go back I can ask you To go Anyway hey hey hey Well, baby, it's just a question but Maybe it's also an answer Ooh let's go Back to your place

Invisible whispers In your diary Invisible questions You never ask me Oh no oh oh no Outlined in chalk They found the invisible man's mark He left his sign A logo perhaps Like a hobo diagram Explaining why and how The world could be better Not just for one but for all This is a special place You can't erase Inside the feeling Divide the consequences Inside the feeling I participate When you want we can decide To join us You don't have to join us now But we could take some time We could take our minds Inside or outside In your mind or mine I try I unwind I die it's unkind

Oh love Is the better part of a hard time And oh I can't think of anyone I'd rather not be beside You tonight Well it feels half... Friday night's enough for you And oh love It's half more than Decided decay ay! Better be why yeah You better beware I got haim Nineh own of, of a man And I got out of the mer And a yard What we became And oh love It's the better part of a hard time Oh I can't decide What

I Decide 02:38
Trip the deja vu diary Until I realized I had no memory Uh uh oh, I decide CHORUS: Should I lay it all out Like Herman Hesse Or obfuscate My confession? I decided perhaps I could change the way I feel Like those people Who don't like me Navigate the waters Of the psyche I decide to backtrack Maybe I'll find my keys Maybe I'll find the love of my life Maybe I'll find a cool diner Maybe I'll find a note on a napkin CHORUS

Two Can Play 03:38
Two can play at that game In fact it's kind of nice I don't know all the rules But I like to roll the dice What number is that? When I was just an egg I thought everywhere Things would Be the same And that's all right And that's all right Cuz two can play at that game In fact it's pretty nice I don't know all the rules But I like to roll the dice Yeah I like to roll the dice Like to roll the dice when I go... Two can play at that game In fact it's pretty nice You don't know all the rules Even though I told you twice I say I'm just trying I'd love to get out Cuz two can play at that game Two can play at that game In fact it's kinda nice Don't have to tell me twice Don't have to tell me twice You don't have to use that voice I think it's kind of just all right Oh maybe it's all just A bunch of noise Two can play at that game In fact it's kind of nice

Dagger 05:25
She had a dagger Dangling off her eye I was up for anything that night Anything that night She had a boyfriend Hanging on her arm She said are you up for anything tonight And I just kinda shrugged Ha ha ha I guess it's all a game I guess it's just Thursday night I guess it's all the same I ain't gonna put up a fight No not quite I stepped out on the porch and got I got high I thought while a while She had eyes with reason And hanging off her chin Was the symbol of the season I guess that's why I said I guess that's why I said I guess that's why I stepped out on the veranda It was only Thursday night I pulled out my eyebrows And then I got high I guess that's why I won't put up a fight It's only Thursday night What they say at I guess time is relative And I've heard that the world is round And some people don't even know How to tell what time it is Oh you know it It's just you outgrow it I-I-I-I... Ah Then we left The hostess fell asleep I walked home And then I had this dream If you don't remember You can drive it along It was moments before I knew that I devolved I only thought of the dagger I forgot about her arm I keep telling myself tomorrow's Friday And some people say I'm not wrong

Elation Is this Distress, Elation Is this the best? I, I Came here before I, I Came here before Is your Wondrous friend here Again? Bark at the door Feel the finger In the cracks of the floor The stone lifts up, it lifts up Inside The chamber Inside The anger Distress, I leave you Now Your friend is here to show me How The cloak of the Darkness Descends on the morn They wonder, they wander Why The greatest thing that I could tell you Was written long ago Lost in a book Why bring it up now? Distress, Elation Elation, Distress Is this the elastic That I like The best? Who's that girl Wandering upwards? Levitate me Now The best You can hope for Is distress Dissipation And to the means To the greens We're not just Fiends we are Friends

about

For Lemon Thunder’s eighth studio album they teamed up with legendary producer(1) Mick Moonwart. Mick has worked with some of the most influential artists(2) of all time including Mikhail Jackson, Tanya Turner, Bruce Sprungspleen, Purple Floyd and Haulin’ Oats. He’s won countless Grammys(3) both as a producer and as a recording artist.

Hurtsdays is the first in a planned trilogy(4) of albums to be released in 2024. For several songs, Mick conducted some of the leading orchestras including The Pacific Northwest Fauxharmonic Orchestra, The Roadkill Riders Symphonium(5), and The Unicorn Preservation Society Orchestra(6). His orchestral scores and arrangements build on Jesse Reklaw and Brandon MacInnis’s original improvised performances and “elevates them to epic compositions worthy to be heard by the gods themselves”(7). One of Mick’s childhood heroes was George Martin who was occasionally referred to as “The Fifth Beatle”. In tribute, Mick took to calling himself “The Third Thunder”(8).

In addition to adding orchestral textures, Mick also brought in his band The Tres Leeches Brass Band(9) to play on some of the songs. A major theme of Hurtsdays is relationships and perhaps that’s why, during the course of working on the project, Mick struck up a romance with bandmate Qylar(10). Qylar is an extra terrestrial and wound up impregnating Mick(11) during the time he was working on the album.

(1) Mick insisted we use the term “legendary producer”.

(2) We’d never heard of any of these artists but Mick claims they “defined the sound of their generation”.

(3) Awards given to him by his grandmother, Minerva Moonwart.

(4) “The Moonwart Trilogy” as Mick is fond of calling it.

(5) Mick actually formed this particular ensemble himself and the name is some kind of inside joke from his time on tour with Peter Phrampton.

(6) The Unicorn Preservation Society Orchestra (UPSO) is a nonprofit and 100% of the proceeds from their performances go to “preserving the ancestral habitat of indigenous unicorns” (coincidentally that habitat happens to be located at the conductor’s home address). The UPSO has a larger than typical brass section “because unicorns have big horns”.

(7) Mick’s words (He is a devout believer in the gods of ancient Greek mythology and would occasionally leave “offerings” to them around the studio.)

(8) The bathroom is right next to the studio and we have a different reason for calling Mick “The Third Thunder”

(9) The Tres Leeches features Mick Moonwart on trumpet, Al “Allbro” Brown on trombone and Qylar on saxophone. Before Qylar joined the group, Mick and Al performed under the name Two Horny Guys, but later changed it when they had trouble booking gigs under that name.

(10). Qylar is a squark (a floating jellyfish-like being) and comes from a gas giant planet that orbits Epsilon Indi A b (~15 light years away). It/She plays the saxophone using an elongated tentacle orifice.

(11) When bandmate Albro was asked how Qylar could even impregnate Mick, he responded “it’s all in the tentacles, man!” (Allbro has spent time on Qylar’s planet and has used their advanced technology to modify his body to be able to play multiple instruments all at the same time).

about

Lemon Thunder Seattle, Washington

All of these songs began with an improvised single take. We recorded many hours worth of weirdo songs, chose the best, and assembled a Frankenstein's monster of live and dead recording techniques by mutating the arrangements, and enhancing them with cybernetic overdubs. The composition process torn asunder, this is the music of Lemon Thunder.
